Description
Fully-qualified, experienced, CRB-checked English teacher available for evening and weekend tuition sessions.

* A-Level English Language - previous examiner experience so can offer real insight into what examiners are looking for
* GCSE - English and English Literature: target weak areas, general revision, exam practice
* KS3 English - former head of KS3

I studied English Language and Literature at Newcastle University and after a short career in banking, started teaching English in 1995. Until this year, when I left to have my second child, I worked in a high-achieving secondary school in Wiltshire, where I was Head of A-level English Language and was the Key Stage 3 co-ordinator. I have a particular interest in and passion for English Language and having examined in this subject for AQA, can offer practical advice on how to achieve the best grades. I have taught all abilities at GCSE and can help you to achieve your target grade in a way that suits your learning style.

My tuition services are flexible and after an initial meeting we can determine how best to achieve your goals, whether that's general revision, specific work on a key area, or just examination practice with detailed feedback.

I offer one-to-one tuition and can also sessions for small groups (2-3 students) in the evenings and at weekends, primarily at my home (Bishopthorpe) but I can also travel within the York area.
